HELP.
Error message. Just bought HP pavilion dv6565us but when I turn it on I get this message. OS: VISTA?
I think you may have to ring HP on this one - I am not 100% sure - so may be corrected by others BUT - I have just looked at the Panther File on my laptop and it appears to contain code that is part of the setup.
It may be that part of the programme is corrupted and will not allow Vista to start -
You may try to restart in SAFE MODE - shutdown and as the PC begins to reboot keep tapping the F8 key until the SAFE MODE option comes up - see if it starts in safe mode - if it does shut down again and see what happens.
Whilst in SAFE MODE it might be worth trying to check the hard drive. Click on START and then on RUN - when the box opens type in chkdisk - and then OK! Let it check the system and see what it reports.
Other than that I'll be honest I didn't even notice this file before.
