You don't have to tell your hairdresser anything. Just find a picture of Vanessa's hair (or you can print out the pictures in your link) and give it to your hairdresser as an example. Hope that helps!

Reply:Bring in a few of those pictures to your stylist and tell him/her wat u like about it. having the picture ther to show exactly what you want can rele help the stylist immitate it rather than having to gess wat u want. Also watch wat the stylist does once shes done cutting your hair so u can create the same look at home

Why doesn't Picasa work on my laptop?
it keeps bringing back an error. On my desktop it works fine but on the laptop it shuts down with an error report from windows before it even starts. i tried reinstalling it and stilldidn't work. the error report is this one:

Did you download the software directly to your laptop from the internet or did you copy it from your home pc? I think each copy of picasa must be downloaded directly for each system.
Other things to check... does your system meet all of the system requirements posted at http://picasa.google.com/features/requir...
Only works with 2000 and XP... good luck.

Oblivion Crashes?
EHy I need someone to interpret this error report for me. My game Elder Scrolls Oblivion keeps crashing and it is not due to the mpeg2dmx.ax file or any HP processes. Here is the error report copy:

If you are using mods, it could me because of some conflicting mods. If this is the case, try disabling all mods. If it runs fine, start re-enabling them one by one, until you find the one that is messing it up. Then just don't enable that one. If that isn't it, I honestly don't know. You should try to uninstall and reinstall Oblivion. If you don't want to lose your saved characters, find them in the folder (C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves). Just copy and paste ALL of these files onto your desktop. Then reinstall the game, and paste them back in. Good Luck.

Hi, first try system restore and last known good configuration, if they work then do the following steps and if they don't do the following steps anyway cause they will fix it:
1.disable system restore
2.restart in safemode
3.remove all security software
4.visit http://onecare.live.com and run microsoft's free safety scanner to remove all viruses, trojans, spyware, and registry errors.
5.restart windows normally
6.see if ur pc works, it should now.
7.download these tools
avg antivirus: http://free.grisoft.com
spybot: http://www.download.com
comodo firewall: http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com
8.update them and scan with them
9.re enable system restore and create a new restore point.

Programming Job Question?
I'm in school working on a BS in applied math and BS physics, but I'm looking to get a programming job while still in school. I'm good with C++ and Java, but I'm looking for a direction to go next to help land a job. I've had a good deal of university programming coursework and I enjoy doing it. From looking around it seems that web programming is more of an entrance as opposed to full-blown software engineering, stressing things like XML, J2EE, and Servlets (please correct me if I'm wrong). Right now I'm learning SQL and integrating it into OOP code. I'm using Dice.com, but many of the positions are posted by staffing agencies as opposed to tech companies, and it's hard to establish a dialogue with them. Are there any kinds of positions or organizations I should look out for? Would official certifications help? Most importantly, what should I concentrate on learning next that I can fairly easily learn on my own?

Hi all,
I have a java file named Ch1Servlet.java under project1/src directory
there is classes directory project1/classes and web.xml under src directory
project1/src directory.
Now to compile i have to give %javac -classpath /your path/tomcat/common/lib/servlet-api.jar -d classes src/Ch1Servlet.java
What is this your path ? Tomcat 5.0 is installed in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.0\common\lib with servlet-api.jar

I'm a senior computer science major and would like to get into web design. I have basic familiarity with programming languages such as Java, C++, COBOL, etc., and am pretty adept at HTML and CSS.
I wanted to find out what I should focus on learning if I intend to persue a carreer in web design in the next year or two.
What programs, languages, and concepts make up the primary areas of focus these days in web design? What are the most important aspects to understand?
My understanding is that these are very important:
Flash
Dreamweaver/Frontpage
ColdFusion or .NET (database connectivity)
Graphic Design Techniques
HTML, XML, PHP
I wondered how those of you that are actually working in the field would change my list?

Stay as open minded as you can and learn CONCEPTS. Don't get bogged down in specifics, because then you'll get pidgeon-holed and become obsolete. However, if you know basic web design principals its just a matter of symantics and syntax to become a brain-child with a new toy or program.
Also make sure you know scripting (JavaScript, php scripting, CSS...) so you can make stuff look nicer
Backside of the Business:
Database TEchniques.
SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Access, ColdFusionMX
DataMining techniques are a biggie. Server administration; know your way around a MS Exchange server. Know about IIS controls on Servers. Learn about Linux (and why people use linux boxes).. again; its concepts and not details...

Web Applications: What to use?? AJAX, Ruby on Rails, ASP.Net, etc.?
Am looking to develop a hosted application in the long-term. Requirements are pretty simplistic, relatively speaking: database-driven with usual record add/delete/modify functionality, a "rich" interface that's nice to look at and work with, and something responsive.
I have programming experience, though it's been 5+ years since I've done anything big and that was VB, C and ASP in the pre-.Net era. I'm not too familiar with OO technologies. Am pretty good with HTML with some understanding of CSS and very basic knowledge of XML.
I'm confident I can pick up new things pretty quickly once I get into it all again but I'm also not really interested in changing careers -- just want to get something up-and-running. Long-term I'd likely hire a pro to take it "big time".
So, what should I use? WAMP, WIMP, LAMP, WIMSA, AJAX, PHP, Perl, Ruby on Rails, MySQL, etc.??
As usual, money is an issue at this stage so I'm open to open-source. I do have Visual Studio.

i'm a web developer too and i use ASP and SQL Server 2000. i've already attended seminars on .NET and, based on your current proficiency, i think ASP.NET would be the best alternative for now. ASP.NET takes a little getting used to if you're used to the regular ASP programming since you don't code it straight to the HTML/ASP page itself. it's a bit like Visual InterDev and VB combined where you make use of "code-behind". if you want fast results, go for .NET since it has an easy Package and Deploy feature for ASP.NET, making server side and client side setup and configuration much simpler.
Reply:As a programmer myself, I can tell you that your best bet is to make your application with the programming languages that you are most familiar with. You have many choices on what "front end" you can use like perl or php, and connect to the "backend" of a MySql database. Since your strengths are Html and you have most experience with the pre-.Net era programming languages, I would reccommend that you stick with what you know best. Most of the internet is run by pre .Net!
Reply:If you like C you'll love perl. Databases are really simple if you have a good background in Perl. Perl can be cryptic just like C can be. Stick to good programming habbits and it will look beautiful. You can use Perl for your MySQL queries. For the interactive web page use AJAX. I've found PHP hard to read, but then again it could have been how it was written.
Perl actually has some object orientation, but it's sort of simple. It actually seems simplier than C's implementation. You don't have to write your code as objects, but all modules are objects and it's really easy to access. The best part of perl is you can write 3 lines of perl that would take 30 lines of C.
P.S. I'm kinda an open source guy. AJAX and Perl. I don't like any of that corporate stuff.

So, my suggestion would be to use LAMP(Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) as it is completely open source, is easiest to learn and quickest to implement solutions, very low on maintenance and has a really good support available on net from the open source community :)

Problem with Microsoft Office 2007 Beta2 technical refresh?
I have Office 2007 beta, and my friend messed it up, when you open word, and try to insert a template it says:The Office Open XML file building blocks.dotx cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents.

How do i remove ID's from the drop list?
I am kinda frustrating right now because, I already followed some of the advice regarding on how to delete or remove the ids from the drop list starting from C:\ProgramFiles\Yahoo\Messenger\Cache and you will going to find those file name that end with conversationhistory.xml or something like this. I already did this, but still when i log in back to my messenger, still the name over the drop list are still there...Now its kinda frustrating, i need your help. Thank you

Best computer programming languages?
I'm a computer engineer and so far I have intermediate experience with C++. I was wondering what programming languages should I make an effort to learn in the next 5 years and my potential career? I also want to learn a little bit of web development. I was thinking of learning Java next then Python, Perl, HTTP, PHP,XML, Javascript, ASP maybe. Anything else?

I would recommend C#- it's becoming more and more used in the industry, and even if you don't wind up using it eventually, its strict static-typing and compilation scheme will help to develop a structured view of programming; and, as a benefit- it has familiar syntax.
I'd also recommend foraying into languages such as Assembly and LISP. Assembly will give you appreciation for the hardware which runs your code, and LISP will give you appreciation for the Lambda calculus from which modern computing is derived.

Hey guys, so lately I've had a lot of seemingly random crashes from oblivion, all of them happen as I am talking to someone or they are talking to me. Sometimes they speak a few sentences, but when trying to switch the topic, the game goes to desktop with the error report. Any help is appreciated!

If you have a newer computer with a large hard drive, I wouldn't worry about it. However, erasing these files wouldn't hurt anything.

Global warming is about climate change, it really is in the beginning stages and it is to early to tell how bad it will get before it swings back the other way. The earth is on a cycle of global warming and that will bring climate change around the world. Snow at the equator, hmmm maybe. Palm trees in New York City. Could be possible, but we will just have to wait and see what global warming and its resulting climate change will do. It is all just speculation now, with only one fact known and that global warming is a fact.

Why Was It So Cold This Winter? Where's The Global Warming?
Global warming is about climate change, it really is in the beginning stages and it is to early to tell how bad it will get before it swings back the other way. The earth is on a cycle of global warming and that will bring climate change around the world. Snow at the equator, hmmm maybe. Palm trees in New York City. Could be possible, but we will just have to wait and see what global warming and its resulting climate change will do. It is all just speculation now, with only one fact known and that global warming is a fact.

Reply:The extreme cold in some areas is a affect of global warming. As weather patterns change from one extreme to another you can't expect everywhere in the world to only experience warmer temp. Such rapid changes messes with key elements such as water and wind currents which play huge parts in controlling temp. So where it may cause record highs in one region, another is likely endure the opposite. It has to go some where massive pockets of cold air i mean they don't just disappear cause everyone starting to use the word global WARMING. Just a name for the phenomenon that we are now going through.
Just as an example that global warming has alot more to do then just warming everything up. The warming of the north Atlantic current(water current) could possible cause the current to just stop flowing causing a massive change for alot North America and Europe. But instead of getting all hot we'd be looking at pre ice age conditions! Recommendations for self-teaching computer programming?
My background: learned Basic as a kid, have dabbled in VBA resulting in some decent MS Word automation, basic HTML and CSS. Although I'd love to go back to school to and get a comp sci B.S., that isn't a possibility (don't have time or money). I'm a physician in residency who's been dabbling with a website that I'd like to begin offering more features on that require client- and server-side programming. I also need some database skills as the web-based apps I want to offer require a small DB. So, I'm faced with all these options. With so many technologies to learn...XML and all its friends (XPath, XLST, etc), Javascript, PHP (or ASP)...not to mention I'd like to develop some desktop apps. I just don't know where to start. I'm a decent self-learner. Do I need to get a C++ for dummies and start from there and work forward? I don't want to write sloppy code and I want more than superficial understanding. Any recommendations on how to self-teach the most efficiently? Where do I start?

If you want a database, you'll want to learn SQL. That language will allow you interact with databases (and better understand code that does so) on a low level.
C++ is a low level programming language. It would allow you build the sort of programs you're talking about from the ground up, but it would be a lot more work.
Javascript, PHP, and ASP allow you to make dynamic web-pages. If you want to build an application with web-pages your users can interact with, one of these would be the way to go. Ruby (on Rails) could also help you generate these pages more easily.
For the purposes you've described here, I'd recommend learning SQL and either PHP or Ruby on Rails first. Those should suit most of your needs.

Reply:I took almost the same path except I started very young and never quit,, the path that best fits me is simply read read code code read code recode then read some more. :) The internet is a great resource for coders but I prefer a hard copy myself, I have great results with the Sams Teachyourself in X hours,days,weeks,months etc... but remember to master anything it takes about 10 years of experiance. start with your hello worlds again and get your syntax down and then just work your way up. And remember your not going to beable to code a full fledged app for a while with beginners skills, so dont try it will just discourage you, just try to reinvent the wheel for learning purposes. I always liked to try to code pong or tetris for learning a language, then make a version 2 with network support and built in chat window? idk just some ideas to kick around for ya, coding is great but requires alot of dedication. :) Stick to your guns and you'll be maken the big bucks like me

When i upload a file in IE, it shows the file type as Application-octet-stream or plain/text or plain/xml or plain/html even if i change the extention. How to find this format of the file thru c++

World of Warcraft Help!!!- Need very experienced players/computer users?
Hello all. I play a popular online MMORPG called World of Warcraft. I am recieving a message that states that I am experiencing a WoW Error (a W.orld o.f W.arcraft Error). This is the message I am recieving...
This application has encountered a critical error:
ERROR #134 (0x85100086) Fatal Condition
Program: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
Failed to open archive interface.MPQ: The system cannot find the file specified.
Now when i attempt to WoW repair it states that WoW is ''seriously damaged and will need to be reverted to an earlier version''. When i click okay it then states that ''the amount of data required to repair World of Warcraft is too large.'' then it says ''Please reinstall. ''
When i try to uninstall it says '' Sorry, uninstallation failed ''Uninstall.xml'' could not be read ''
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Reply:Actually the best thing to do would be to go to Program files go to your WOW folder open it...then right inside there is a repair program that will run and make sure all the files are there. Report It
Reply:Til around level 12, stick to your starting zone doing all the quests there, the quests will eventually be gone in that zone, and towards the end of the quests, you will get one that moves you onto the next zone.
As far as money is concerned, noone likes beggars, I'd suggest not begging for money on your realm as it will give you a bad rep fast, lots of ignores, and if you plan on playing that character all the way to 70, later on you might find that noone will want to instance with ya because they think you are greedy and might even have you on ignore already. Besides, asking for gold on the forums is worthless anyways, there are hundreds of servers in wow which are not connected to each other, and chances of finding someone from your server on your faction who is willing to give someone gold for nothing is very slim.
Just quest, fastest way to level in the game, and the higher level you get, the more gold you will get.

If not, you should call or write to the wow staff.

You could also ask the tech department on their website they emailed me detailed instructions on how to do it.( I am no expert on computers so you might want to get the info from them since it been awhile that had to do this)

I'm very interested in the web development field and I've been researching HTML, DHTML, XHTML, XML, ASP, CSS and some other technologies but I'm not sure which are the best for when I graduate college.
My question, to clarify, is what technologies should I really beef up in order to be marketable as an atleast Junior Web Developer upon graduation?
I just have one problem, my school does not have a web development track so I am tacking the programming track and learning COBOL, Java, C++ and some VB...

(ASP/ColdFusion/PHP,etc.), Learn how yo connect your pages to databases such as Access or SQL, learn how to use javascript for menu building and client-side error checking, and get in with a decent web designer. You will also want to be familiar with CSS and how to manage and edit domain name registrars. You should also know how Flash works and how to integrate. To be honest with you, NOTHING takes the place of real world experience but at least being familiar with these things will get you foot in the door a s JR. web guy. Good Luck.

I'm am trying to learn js/css %26amp; HTML using a book a guy gave me. Can you show me the code to make this work?
First of all, please follow coding standards. I helped you with a question yesterday, and I am seeing the exact same errors:
-Don't use capital letters for tags, i.e %26lt;P%26gt;, %26lt;DIV%26gt;, etc.
-Don't use depracated properties, i.e. %26lt;center%26gt;, align=
-Don't forget to close tags, i.e. %26lt;option... /%26gt; (remember each tag MUST have a '/' before the final '%26gt;'
-Put quotes around properties
-%26lt;title%26gt; must be in %26lt;head%26gt;
Also, take a look at your post, Yahoo! Answers cuts off anything longer than 30 characters, so a lot of your code is missing.
Here is a programming tip that will save you countless hours of programming:
It is often a lot easier to find scripts already written than to write your own. Just search for what you are looking for if it would seem somewhat common and you will usually find it.
I searched for 'javascript telephone number validation' and the first result looks like a perfect fit for what you need:

Humans like to type what they want, and since you can easily have the program re-format the data, don't force humans to conform to your program, make your program conform to humans. Here's an example of how to remove non-digits from a string using a regular expression:

Appropriate Salary for developers?
Hello guys,
I may be starting a Web Design %26amp; Development studio with both web and offline presence. In-house dedicated team, sort of. I plan to have the following 'assets' what would be the reasonable fixed monthly pay for them?
(1) Web Graphic Designer %26amp; Developer (i.e HTML/CSS) [Adobe Photoshop CS2 etc..]
(2) Web Developer PHP, mySQL, XML, ASP, .NET, AJAX
(1) Flash/Interactive Artist for Animations, Presentations and in rare cases games. In Macromedia Flash.
(1) Programmer Visual Basic, Visual C++
(1) Leader/Manager of the team sort of like CTO which manages the entire team of (6) people.
(1) Internet Marketer, Telemarketer.
How much in dollars/rupees fixed PER month will you say, of course they can be promoted to a greater salary as years pass or when there is that much work flow. You see this is going to start small and only have so much funds for this.
Appropriate Salary for developers?

I have Norton Antivirus and thought there were no viruses so what could be the problems with these files? I don't even know which files these are.

Occasionally computers make mistakes: what happens is that data gets corrupted as it will do, just by random, from time to time. Since these files seem to be in a temporary folder there doesn't seem to be much to worry about but I wonder how you got this message, "detected by Microsoft". Sounds like a scam to me, probably trying to sell you some software that you don't need.

There is a really good free program called Spybot Search %26amp; Destroy that detects spyware, and viruses, and I would advise you use it, and remove any problems it finds, and if it doesn't find the one Microsoft found, then Microsoft just thinks the programs may be a threat, but they really aren't.

Downlaod it from the link you will see on the website to FileForums, it will say Editor's pick on it too, click it, and the download will shortly begin. Follow the simple instructions, immunize the computer using the program, then select "Check for Problems", let the program scan. Then when it shows the problems, and the problems are checked, click "Fix Selected Problems".
Restart the computer, and any dangerous material will be removed.
Reply:I ran Norton for the first three months, and after hearing from friends that it was no good, I uninstalled it and put in Spybot search and destroy , and AVG anti-virus. They managed to find a total of 32 viruses that had got passed Norton..!!
Reply:They are probably just file types that Microsoft doesn't like too much.I had Norton and it pretty much killed my computer.It ended up deleting half of Windows registry.
Reply:Norton causes windows errors it has happened to me before that's why i will never use it again. Try uninstalling norton to see if your errors go away. If not you can aways reinstall it.

I have Norton Antivirus and thought there were no viruses so what could be the problems with these files? I don't even know which files these are.

Occasionally computers make mistakes: what happens is that data gets corrupted as it will do, just by random, from time to time. Since these files seem to be in a temporary folder there doesn't seem to be much to worry about but I wonder how you got this message, "detected by Microsoft". Sounds like a scam to me, probably trying to sell you some software that you don't need.

There is a really good free program called Spybot Search %26amp; Destroy that detects spyware, and viruses, and I would advise you use it, and remove any problems it finds, and if it doesn't find the one Microsoft found, then Microsoft just thinks the programs may be a threat, but they really aren't.

Downlaod it from the link you will see on the website to FileForums, it will say Editor's pick on it too, click it, and the download will shortly begin. Follow the simple instructions, immunize the computer using the program, then select "Check for Problems", let the program scan. Then when it shows the problems, and the problems are checked, click "Fix Selected Problems".
Restart the computer, and any dangerous material will be removed.
Reply:I ran Norton for the first three months, and after hearing from friends that it was no good, I uninstalled it and put in Spybot search and destroy , and AVG anti-virus. They managed to find a total of 32 viruses that had got passed Norton..!!
Reply:They are probably just file types that Microsoft doesn't like too much.I had Norton and it pretty much killed my computer.It ended up deleting half of Windows registry.
Reply:Norton causes windows errors it has happened to me before that's why i will never use it again. Try uninstalling norton to see if your errors go away. If not you can aways reinstall it.

It's easy enough to compare the course requirements and take the extra classes you need. Unexpected end of input - Veritas Backup Exec w/ Windows 2000.?
We are using Veritas Backup Exec w/ Windows 2000. The past week or so our daily backup has been failing. When I check the computer in the morning I believe it is frozen. I have to unplug it to restart it. Then when it boots up I get this message.

I keep getting an error message that says I have a corrupt file on Yahoo Messenger. I have tried deleting the file but it won't work. I have tried starting the computer in safe mode but that won't work either. The file path is:

What happened to status message on yahoo messenger?
Every time I want to write in something on my status message it limits me up to 40 characters. I know this because I looked it up on C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Cache and opened with notepad the file system.xml . I was looking through it and got to a point where it said: server%26gt;

Hi, I'm currently trying to upload a custom code to my DS action replay from here:

how do I do it without manually imputting the codes to the action replay?
Please tell me in steps as it can be confusing if not

I need to use SQL Server 2005 stored procedure with parameters as a datasource for my report.
I tried creating an xml file of a dataset that used the stored procedure as a datasource. I also tried using the report document's SetParameterValue() to set the parameters. However, the report does not display.
Can someone please walk me through the entire process? You can e-mail me if you like. I am at a new job; and, this is my probationary period.

you are going about this wrong.. your crystal report will have an option to specify a database.. and in there you can pick what stored procedure you want to to use as a data source for your crystal report.. again.. the stored procedure goes IN your crystal and NOT in your vb.net..
in the vb.net code you will need to send crystal your report parameters... then crystal takes those params and calls the stored procedure.
