when i try to run the game,the starting movie clip runs,but later on EITHER the 'new game' screen doesn't come,there remains a black screen with ocassional white patches OR that screen comes but when i click new game the game stopsand following error is shown:

Will assassin's creed run on dual core 2.0 GHz,nVidia 8400 GS,1 GB RAM ?
Have you tried updating your graphics card drivers they can be found on the nvidia website. Also make sure you directx 10 installed.
