Anti virus problems-do I contact Norton or BT Yahoo?

I have had windows error reports - saying I have antivirus problems - and have carried out recommendations - ie first - upgrading then checking for more than one antivirus system installed-there were no others. The third recommendation is that I talk to the antivirus provider. As I have BT Total Broadband Option 3 I did not know if I should contact Norton or BT Yahoo. The error msg also mentions two files - C:\DOCUME~1\Gordon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER58a9...

C:\DOCUME~1\Gordon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER58...

I am using Windows XP and the only recent software I have downloaded is Windows Media Player 11.

Help! Gorjan

Anti virus problems-do I contact Norton or BT Yahoo?
Delete your temporary internet files. Best way to get rid of a pest is to google the name of it. Somebody will have the fix to kill it.
Reply:Always check with BT first. If it is a problem with Norton they will sort it out
Reply:i had the same problem as well an for some reason norton stalled and they recommended i remove all norton and reinstall. i can't remember but, i am sure i found it on my symantec security toolbar.

any way it removed all norton components and then i reinstall it with my disc and presto! works just fine now.
Reply:Hi Gorjan,

First off, BT Yahoo have nothing to do with this so long as you can surf the internet, IF you need to contact anyone, it'll be Norton.

Often the problem is down to your AV software not updating properly.. There are two options.. Force an update using the Norton Controls.. You should find these under the Start%26gt;Programs menu under "Norton" or "McAfee" or similar (they've all sold their souls to Symantec, so without the exact make of the AV I can't be more exact) If that doesn't work, and you have the original disks, you might want to try uninstalling the program and reinstalling it.. Use Add/Remove programmes in the control panel to do this..

Finally you could search the Symantec website (link below) for the exact error message, There's a search box and a link to the support pages on the link... Or you could post the exact message here and I'm sure someone will be able to give you more details on your issue..

Your files that you mentioned got cut off, but it looks like they're likely to be in your temporary internet files.. If so, empty out your temporary internet files from your computer. Internet Explorer%26gt;Tools%26gt;Internet Options%26gt;Browsing History%26gt;Delete.. Depending on the version of internet explorer, this will either go ahead and do it, or you will be offered the choice to Delete temporary internet files. If you've inadvertantly downloaded som malware, this may be sufficient to make the problem go away.
Reply:norton if u can
Reply:you need to talk to Norton, have you found what the document is I:E gordon?, did you have the problem before you downloaded media player, and is your firewall turned on?
Reply:I Would contact Norton since its there product.

call there support line or post something on there forums.
Reply:Norton may have read some of the down load files as a virus.

Go to Norton Support. I would down load Norton Internet Security removal tool then remove and reinstall NIS by logging into your account.

This should solve problem but check with Norton first they may have a better fix for problem. Before down loading files/programs put the web site on your allowed list, this helps with some problems and errors.

Hope this helps
