What's happening? 'Windows has recovered on a serious error'?

I have Win XP (SP2) and I use AVG 7.5 free.

The problem is that at odd intervals my screen would go totally blank and I would need to press the restart/reset button to restart the machine. Then when rebooted and logged on again I get this message: -

Windows has recovered on a serious error.

A log of this error has been created.

----------------

Then I click on the display more info hyperlink and get the details.

The following: These files will be included in the error report:

C:\...\...\...\temp\WERad1d.dir00\mini...

C:\...\...\...\temp\WERad1d.dir00\sysd...

What is going wrong with the files?

I'm sure that sysdata can't be deleted but I deleted the mini12.... file (made a copy first) is OK to be dumped.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks for Particpating. I'll try to help you with that. First of all, the files you're seeing are nothing more than temporary files and need to be deleted as they're not used. If they're the cause of the problem, they definately need to be removed. Parts of the files may also be in other places and we'll need to locate each of the pieces to rid you of the problem. First, Click on My Computer from your desktop and work your way to that particular folder,,c:\..\..\temp and you'll see the file, unless of course it's hidden. Find the files and delete them and then from your desktop, click on Start and then Run and in the type line put in msconfig and hit "enter". You'll then see the "startup" tab at the top. click on it and see if you can find any parts of those particular files there. If so, delete them there as well. Then restart the computer and see if you still have the problem. If so, hit me up on dumbbutt4321@yahoo.com and I'll help you with it. Larry
